Thanks for show. I love the ship. I love ship and train since I was young in 1978. I need to come on that ship and have transatlantic crossing. I took Caribbean cruises from Florida many times. I got tired of it. I need to go on Alaska and New England/ Canada cruise, too. I thought that Queen Mary 2 ship was too big for me. I found out yesterday that she is smaller than many newest ships. I like 2,600 passengers. Not over 4,000 passengers. I will like to try Cunard ship next time. I went on HAL' s Maasdam last time in 2003. She was small ship and nice. I was thinking about coming back there. But I found out that Princess have beautiful ships. Now I found out that Cunard are beautiful ships and smaller than Princess' new ships and other cruise line's ships. I don't care about tours and sightseeing. I just love ships and trains. My first boat ride on coal burning carferry, City of Midland between Milwaukee and Ludington in 1978 and carry freight cars. Now I don't go there anymore since my last trip in about 1983.

Thanks for show. Too bad that your train didn't have Sightseeing car. I had it on every time I rode on long distance train. About 10 years ago I took 3 days and 4 nights train trip on The Canadian from Toronto to Vancouver. Then I took train from there to Seattle. Then I took Builder Empire to Chicago. It was nice. I love Amtrak King Station. They were beautiful and much better than about 40 years ago. They had ugly drop down ceiling. One year later I took Builder Empire from Chicago to Seattle. Then I took The Canadian train from Vancouver to Toronto. Then one year later I took a round trip on The Canadian Train from Toronto in Winter. It was beautiful viewing of snow from train there. It was my last trip. They replaced regular Park Car with new Prestige car on my last trip from Vancouver to Toronto. I miss their regular Park Car. Also they changed schedules from 3 days and 4 nights train trip to 4 days and 4 nights. Then they dropped from three trains per week to two trains per week. I will still take Amtrak to Seattle.

There are so many comments here, I will stop looking to see if someone answers your debate question for you. In Grand Junction, the landmark on the left are the Bookcliffs while the one on the right is THE Grand Mesa. I lived in that part and south of there in Colorado for 18 years. We camped, hunted, fished, drove, sledded, played on the Grand Mesa more times than I can count. There you go. Debate answered! 😂

I tried to book a roomette or bedroom from L.A. to Kalispell with Amtrak. I could not get the same information twice, I did phone a few times, they could not provide routes or pricing, then availability was a question, I had dates for going and return. Went to Auto Club travel service and they referred me to Amtrak!!! I was given prices..for a roomette ranging from $860 to $2700 and never clear if it was for one person or two..assumed it was two because it would have been a roomette since 'bedrooms' were mostly cross country services. Too bad I could not get a proper answer or even close to a clear one.

This was a very interesting article -- even though it points out the deficiencies in passenger rail travel which exists most anywhere in the United States, as compared to Europe. I traveled with my aunt from Los Angeles to Denver in 1949, on the City of St. Louis -- a wonderful train which carried all the amenities that one would expect back then, before interstates and airlines had ruined rail travel. I frankly yearn for passenger rail travel as it was then - and feel that the United States has lost one of its genuine treasures. Until passenger rail service is restored to its former days, we shall remain a backward nation when it comes to the beauty of rail travel. The Canadians have it right --

Enjoyed this video. I love Dollar Tree for travel essentials, and already have almost all of the things they bought in my "always packed, ready to go" toiletry bag & carry-on. When I return home from a trip I refill or replace everything I used, and never get to the airport to discover I forgot or am missing something (like deodorant). I've been using those clear zip folders for more years than I can remember to hold itineraries, boarding passes, confirmations for hotels & rental cars, excursions, cruise documents, etc (yes, it's on my phone, too, but just in case of a dead battery, I'm all set). I also have, from Dollar Tree, a tiny sewing kit, first aid supplies, gum for the plane, small comb & brush, Clorox wipes, a flat magnetic flashlight for metal cruise ship walls, magnets for those same walls, and, instead of those large 3.4 ounce refillable hard plastic bottles for shampoo, conditioner, body wash & lotion, I purchased, again at Dollar Tree, silicone single serve dressing bottles (like for a salad). The caps come in different colors (good for more than one traveler), and I label each bottle. As you use them, they get flatter, so they take up even less room in your 1 qt zip-loc bag on your return trip home. I filled them all a few weeks before I traveled to see how many showers per container I could take, and packed accordingly. I do put saran wrap first and then screw the cap on to prevent leaks - so far, so good. Last year, for a 3 week summer trip to Europe, my daughter (thankfully!) bought me a small usb operated fan (which I used countless times - no a/c at our friend's house!). I also brought laundry soap sheets, which I ordered online. Hand washed a few items of clothing on the ship, so didn't have to pack as much. I think my best tip would be that if you travel a lot, always have your toiletry bag and carry-on (with unmentionables, nightwear, and one outfit) packed and ready to go. One less thing to worry about, and sure saves time packing. (edited for spelling error).
